Johnston’s 2021 Kris May Memorial Golf Tournament Most Successful Year Yet
This past Wednesday, September 8th marked the 30th anniversary of local food service and cleaning solutions provider, Johnston’s annual charity golf tournament. The event takes place each year as both a thank you to some of Johnston’s customers as well as a fundraiser for local charities. Historically benefiting both the Make-A-Wish Foundation and the First Tee of Syracuse, Johnston decided to benefit a third charity at this year’s event – The Jim & Juli Boeheim Foundation.
Johnston was recently declared the official food service and cleaning solutions provider of the Syracuse Orange, precursing the announcement of the new charity partnership for the company’s annual golf tournament. Members of Syracuse’s Men’s basketball team and coaching staff, including Head Coach Jim Boeheim, Adrian Autry, Gerry McNamara, and Allen Griffin were all in attendance for the day of fun, fundraising and a little bit of rain!
The Skaneateles Country Club played host to the over 150 participants of this years’ tournament and with support from Johnston’s generous vendor partners the charity event raised the most money ever in its history. President and CEO Mike May Sr. voiced his particular thanks to the five gold sponsors of the event: Georgia Pacific, Gojo, SafetyZone, Kimberly-Clark and Spartan Chemical. Coach Boeheim spoke of his gratitude for the outstanding support his foundation received from the huge contingent of Syracuse supporters and how fortunate he is to coach in such a supportive community. He thanked Johnston for their contributions to his foundation’s causes and expressed his happiness about the partnership in this event.
All told, the day was a resounding success despite a bit of wet weather which the tournament field persevered through. By the time the winning teams were announced, prizes awarded, and hors d’oeuvres were served there was not a rain-soaked participant without a smile on their face.
